CAPE COD CHAPTER OF THE RED CROSS
DISASTER SERVICES: Under a mandate from the
U.S. Congress, the American Red Cross is the nation's premier
non-governmental disaster relief agency. On Cape Cod, the Red Cross
not only prepares for large disasters like hurricanes and blizzards,
but handles a continual stream of smaller ones, like single-family
house fires. Red Cross responds to the scene, 24-hours a day, and
provides emergency food, clothing, shelter and other needs. All Red
Cross disaster help is free, and made possible by financial
contributions from the public. During large disasters, the Cape Cod
Chapter shares its expertise by offering trained volunteers to
respond to disasters around the country. New volunteers of all ages
are needed all the time, and Red Cross offers free training in your
community. To find out more, call the Cape Cod Chapter House at
508-775-1540.
The Red Cross has a "FAMILIES PLEDGE TO PREPARE" BROCHURE to

The Cape Cod Commission Guide Natural Disaster
The Cape Cod Commission funded this publication through its
Project Impact Cape Cod program grant. Project Impact is a national
program funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and
established to empower communities to address disaster resistance
and hazard mitigation at the regional and local levels. Through
Project Impact FEMA challenged the nation to undertake actions to
protect families, businesses, and communities by reducing the
effects of natural disasters.
