*SERIOUS Issue of
concern: RT 28 and LUMBERTS MILL ROAD* 03/06 *update Is it true? Could it be? In a recent discussion with Senator O'Leary's staff, the district superinedent of Mass Highway for this area stated that two traffic lights would be added to The rt 28 corridor through Centerville, Osterville and MArstons Mills. LUMBERTS MILL AND RT 28!!! and South County Rd. and Rt 28 (osterville with blinking yellow light) Keep your fingers crossed!! 8/05 The Massachusetts Highway Department
(MHD) has hired a consultant to look at three intersections with Rt.
28. Route 149 and 28, South County Rd. and Rt 28, and
Lumberts Mill and Rt. 28. These three intersections are all
dangerous, but the percentage of PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENTS is less than
10% at South County and 149, where the percentage at the Lumberts Mill
Intersection is 33%!
The MHD had counters on each intersection on several
days in July. What counters don't show is the amount of traffic
traveling through Precinct 6 to AVOID that intersection because it is
unsafe. If you feel that intersection needs a traffic light please forward
your letters- (keep the length minimum) to the Mass Highway Dept.

The state highway department has
suggested that a traffic light at this intersection will draw excess
traffic. But, there are so many of you who live in the
neighborhoods around the "cut-through" roads used by people avoiding the
intersection. Please send me your stories and I will share
them with Mass Highway!
LUMBERTS MILL AND RT 28 - This intersection has
been a dangerous and too often deadly area. We need to tell the state
highway dept that it is time to address the safety issues. I need your
help circulating petitions. contact me if you would like to circulate a
petition!
(05/01/05) Another awful accident
Sunday evening - that required one person be transported to a
Boston Hospital via Medflight.
We need to convince the state highway
department that the money -- originally set aside in a
bond secured by Rep. Atsalis to put a light at this
intersection -- needs to be used for that purpose -- ASAP!
We have collected about 175 signatures at this point and want
to continue to collect signatures - of you would like to help please let
me know! CLICK HERE TO EMAIL ME
Are you the victim of an accident at this
intersection? Have you had a near miss? Would you be willing to write a
letter to the state highway department? Please contact me if you can
help!

Rte. 28 accident highlights need for signal Councilor, state rep. working to get project funds freed With another serious accident at the intersection of Lumbert Mill Road and Route 28 in Centerville this week, local and state elected officials are stepping up their efforts to push for traffic signals there. A two-car accident Sunday evening left four injured, one seriously enough to be MedFlighted to Boston, and was the latest to bring rescue and police personnel to the intersection. Town Councilor Janet Joakim was on the scene taking pictures to document the accident, something she said that she’s doing more often as time passes without progress.
